The purpose of this meditation is to generate the strong wish to maintain a mind which cherishes others based upon contemplation of the benefits of cherishing others, and then think about this in light of giving.

I began with a lovely breathing meditation, letting my mind sink into my heart and mix with my Spiritual Guides mind. After a while, I moved on…

I started by thinking about how cherishing others produces peace in our minds. Delusions cause our mind to become unpeaceful and agitated.  Cherishing others fills our mind with peace and love. This was enough to focus on today, and I let my mind mix with this feeling of tranquillity and simple love for others.

After a while, I thought about what this means in terms of the practice of giving. Once we cherish others, the practice of giving comes without effort. It seemed to me that cherishing others flourishes into the practice of giving. I focused on this and returned to my feeling of cherishing others, and the peace is brings.


May all living beings let their lives become peaceful through the practice of cherishing others, and may they quickly become free from all delusions and obstructions.
