The purpose of this meditation is to generate a feeling of having given pure happiness to all living beings.

I began by making the appropriate preparations for meditation, and then settled into watching my mind for a while. When most of my distractions had subsided, I moved on to the main meditation.

oceanI started once again by remembering that living beings are constantly striving to find happiness, but due to their confusion, they destroy whatever happiness they find. I generated the wish for them to find happiness. I wished harder and harder, and finally it seemed that my wish took form, and my heart (and then my body) turned into a wish granting jewel. Light rays radiated from my heart, and the happiness I have found filled all living beings throughout the world. There were so many rays that they blended together, and it seemed to me that I was suspended in an ocean of happiness. It was blissful and I tried to keep my concentration focused on it for the rest of the meditation. When my mind wandered, I just brought it back to this feeling of profound universal happiness.

May all living beings find true lasting happiness in the Dharma of Je Tsongkhapa.

Practice in the Meditation Break

I will try to retain my wish to give happiness to others, and manifest behaviours which will lead to others’ happiness.
