The purpose of this meditation was to let go of all attachments.

I began by making the appropriate preparations for meditation, and then I thought about how I am looking for happiness in the wrong place. I try to find happiness in situations and people in the same way that I try to find fillings in chocolates. When I open a box of chocolates, and pick the coffee creme, I know there is a filling in there that I like and will give me pleasant feelings. I mistakenly believe that everything else is like this too. Certain people have a filling of happiness, and I think that to be happy I have to get that person, and the happiness they contain.

I focused on how mistaken this view is, and how I really need to just let go of all these attachments. I meditated on this wish for the rest of the meditation.

May all living beings abandon their attachments.

Practice in the Meditation Break

I will try to remember my determination to abandon my attachments.
