The purpose of this meditation is to generate a wish that our practical experience of the path will increase through our reliance upon our Spiritual Guide.
I began by making the appropriate preparations for meditation and then started by thinking about what our ‘practical experience of the path’ means. It seemed to me that one answer could our practical experience is our activities in the meditation break. We train in meditation so that all our actions can become meaningful, even when we are not in meditation. I thought of how Geshe Chekhawa advises us to train in every activity by words, and not for the first time I thought of how wonderful it would be to be able to quote lines from Geshe-la’s books appropriate for each activity we engage in – eating, sleeping, talking, walking, working etc.
I thought of be present to myself in all my actions, and understanding that these actions were part of the path to enlightenment. I focused on this as the object of meditation.
May all living beings train in every activity by words.
Practice in the Meditation Break
I will try to train in every activity by words.
