The purpose of yesterday’s meditation was to generate great compassion for all living beings.
I began by making the appropriate preparations for meditation and then contemplated:
For me, all living beings are supremely precious because they are essential to by spiritual development. They are equally precious to Buddhas themselves, and I am supremely grateful for their kindness. When I look, I can see that living beings are completely tormented by their delusions and their suffering.
I focused on my cherishing love for them, and their sufferings, and I naturally developed a strong wish for them to be free from their suffering. I focused on this wish for the rest of the meditation.
Today’s meditation was on Bodhichitta – the supreme good heart. I contemplated:
Feeling compassion is not enough. I need compassion, but I also need to do something practical to help all my kind mothers. My sufferings are as nothing compared to the sufferings of all living beings and I cannot wait a moment longer. I must become a Buddha as quickly as possible so that I can help all living beings.
I focused on this wish for the rest of the meditation.
May all living beings develop qualified compassion and Bodhichitta.
Practice in the Meditation Break
I will try to put my wishes into action.
