The purpose of this meditation is to generate a strong wish to practice the three higher trainings of moral discipline, concentration and wisdom.
I made the appropriate preparations for meditation and then began by calling to mind the contemplation from the book ‘How to Understand the Mind’ as follows:
Since the three higher trainings are the actual method to attain liberation from the sufferings of this life and countless future lives, I must put great effort into practising them.
I kept my calm peaceful mind in my awareness and mixed with it a strong wish to practice the three higher trainings in everyday life, and free myself from the sufferings of this and my future lives.
May all living beings be free from samsara’s sufferings.
