Geshe-la’s advice to us in the meditation break is to mainly recognise that the things we normally see do not exist. 

So here is as ordinary a sight as you could have:

  
These things appear ordinary. They appear to exist just as they seem. External. Fixed. Ordinary. 

But things do not exist as they appear. They are much more interesting than they seem. They are secretive – elusive – mysterious. They are, in fact, unfindable. Although things appear clearly, they do not exist at all. Although they do not exist, they appear vividly to me. 

These very ordinary shelves of tins reminded me that they do not exist at all.
